Biggest Loser New Season

Thursday's Workout: 3 miles with Bee + 7.3 miles with Scholls Striders (6 @ tempo pace)

Austin and I got into watching The Biggest Loser a couple of seasons ago. We love to see how the people change from being overweight and under-confident to such strong people both of body and mind.

This season on the show the theme is kind of a battle against childhood obesity. I am a huge believer in getting kids out and moving - and as a teacher - it saddens me to see kids who just want to sit and play video games all day. I hope that with all of my running talk (yes I do that at work too) that I can inspire these kids to do something different and active.

The latest episode of TBL really had me inspired - and almost teary-eyed. (I think that I might be turning into an actual lady - I've been emotional lately - for valid reasons - when studying MLK Jr with my kids on Tuesday I almost cried for being so thankful) In this episodes the contestants along with many other people in the journey to weight loss ran a 5k.

I LOVED seeing what running your first race can do for a person and their esteem, enthusiasm and drive. Running can and continually does that for me and I know many other people. The Biggest Loser has started a race series - and even has one in the town that I lived in before college! I would totally go down to support the cause if I didn't already have plans on that date to run a different race in the town that I did go to college.

One thing about running races with a cause is that there is such a different feeling in the air. I LOVED all of the enthusiasm and support during the Marine Corps Marathon. And I have thoroughly enjoyed all of the fundraising and training that I have been doing with Team in Training.

If you would like to run for a cause - choose my virtual race and help to "pay it forward" (Biggest Loser Motto) with your health for those who may not be able to now - so in the future they can.
